How Cinnamon Can Help
Keep Maggots
Out Of Your
Trash Cans
By KELLY CATLIN
During the warm months, you might notice egg-laying flies leaving maggots on your trash can. Since they detest the smell, cinnamon and water is a great way
to get rid of them.
Mix cinnamon with water from the tap, or use boiling water. Cinnamon can take over six hours to work, but if mixed with scalding water, it will kill maggots on contact.
If you have an outdoor trash can with a maggot issue, tap water will probably suffice, but if it's
a more urgent issue in the house, take the can outside and use boiling water.
For maximum effectiveness, disinfect your trash can after killing the maggots, and add cinnamon water again to deter future
flies from laying eggs.
