How Cinnamon Can Keep Pesky Fruit Flies Out Of Your Kitchen
By KATIE FRANCIS
Cinnamon sticks contain eugenol, a natural chemical compound that produces a strong scent that not only repels fruit flies but disrupts their way of communicating with one another.
Identify the areas where the fruit flies love to gather the most, such as the bowl of produce on the kitchen table, or the kitchen sink, and place the sticks directly next to them.
Other forms of the spice contain eugenol, so you can also use powdered cinnamon, cinnamon oil, or cinnamon tree bark and leaves, as long as they’re kept in an aerated container.
