How Love It Or List It Creates Stunning Natural Bathroom Light
By GISELLE DAMIER
Hilary Farr shared some brilliant tips on how to brighten up your bathroom in an episode of “Love It or List It,” which featured her addition of a brightly lit master bathroom.
If your bathroom is dark or dimly lit and you're considering a refresh, these tips will help you maximize natural light to make your bathroom both functional and more welcoming.
The biggest change in the show’s featured bathroom was the addition of skylights. If your bathroom has roof access, these can bring in natural light without sacrificing privacy.
Installing larger windows is also a way to add natural light. If your bathroom faces the street or a neighboring building, use frosted glass or frosted window stickers for privacy.
If you can’t add larger windows or skylights, you can create the effect of a skylight by installing a ceiling light from Amazon that simulates a skylight letting in natural light.
Use mirrors to reflect available sources of natural light and make your bathroom seem more spacious. Simply replace your mirror with a larger one, especially a wall-to-wall mirror.
Install LED strips behind the mirror to create an illusion of natural light. Using reflective surfaces like chrome fittings and shiny quartz countertops creates a similar effect.
