How To Dispose Of Used Aluminum Foil To Keep Pests Out Of Your Trash
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
To keep pests out of your trash cans and protect your local wildlife, it's crucial to properly dispose of used aluminum foil instead of simply throwing it away in the garbage can.
Start by bagging the dirty foil and consider double-bagging to reduce the smell that attracts animals. Rinsing the foil with water to remove any food debris can also
be helpful.
If your current bin is an older or weaker plastic model that is easy to break into, replace it with one that is sturdier, harder to chew through, and equipped with a locking lid.
For bins without a locking lid, secure the cover with bungee cords or place heavy objects like rocks or bricks on top to make it more challenging for animals
to open.
