How To Preserve Your Flowers Like Fixer Upper Star Joanna Gaines
By D.G. SCIORTINO
Joanna Gaines, the star of HGTV’s "Fixer Upper," has revealed the perfect way to preserve your favorite summer flowers so you can still enjoy them when the temperature cools down.
To recreate her adorable DIY dried flower jar, gather enough blooms to fill the container you'll use. Next, remove leaves and other parts, leaving only the flowers on the stems.
These flowers then need to be tied together at the end and hung upside down in a dark, well-ventilated space to dry, a process that typically takes two to three weeks.
Once thoroughly dried, a light spray of hairspray can be applied to them for added preservation. Trim off the stems and place the dried flowers inside an airtight jar.
As a finishing touch, inspired by Gaines, use leather cord and manila shipping tags to label your jars, marking them with the season and year, thereby creating a timeless keepsake.
