Regular lawn care, such as proper mowing and cleanliness in gardening tools, also plays a vital role in controlling purslane's growth.
You can also introduce the purslane sawfly to weaken the plant and consume its leaves. However, biological controls have limitations, especially in severe infestations.
Consider chemical controls as a last resort for stubborn purslane. Preemergent herbicides like dithiopyr and pendimethalin are recommended to halt the growth of purslane seeds.
Use chemicals sparingly, aiming for a balanced approach that prioritizes a healthy, resilient garden over excessive chemical reliance.
