How To Turn Toilet Paper Rolls Into Gorgeous Snowflake Christmas Decor
By ALEXANDRA RODRIGUEZ
Buying holiday decorations for your home can put a small dent in your bank account. Luckily, there are some inexpensive ways to make your own decorations.
TikTok user @budgetingmumofficial showed how she created a striking snowflake ornament using empty toilet paper rolls, and the final result was a unique, eco-friendly decoration.
To do it yourself, all you need is a hot glue gun, scissors, a ruler, six equal-sized empty toilet paper rolls, and twine. You can also use cardboard tubes from wrapping paper.
Begin by cutting a roll open so it lies flat, then use your ruler to measure each side to create a perfect square. You'll need to draw a few lines for the measurements you made.
Cut out your square and fold it diagonally to form a triangle. Place the ruler along one side on the opposite side of the fold and draw lines from top to bottom 1 centimeter apart.
Cut each line, leaving a space between the fold and the line to create loose strips on the sides of the triangle. Open the triangle; you should have equal strips on each side.
Glue the ends of the strips together, starting with the top two and skipping every other pair. With one side done, flip it and glue the remaining pairs together on the other side.
Repeat the steps with the other five toilet paper rolls. Finally, hot glue each end together to create a snowflake and tie a piece of twine to the top of it to hang on your tree.
