How To Use Brightly-Colored Ribbons To Attract Birds This Spring
By MICHELLE ROBERTS-GARCIA
You don’t have to be an avid watcher to get excited at seeing birds outside. To encourage them to visit you, tie brightly-colored ribbons to your feeder and around your yard.
Due to their keen eyesight, birds love bright colors that resemble flowers or their species’ plumage. These can be mimicked using ribbon in bold colors such as yellow or red.
After purchasing your desired color, cut the ribbon into strips long enough that their ends can catch in the breeze. This will signal to the birds that the area is safe to visit.
Tie the ribbon around your feeder, trees, or areas where the birds like to spend time. After they come to inspect the bright fabric, they will likely stay around for food or water.
