How To Use Pepper To Keep Ants Out Of The House
By MICHELE WANKE
Pepper is an economical and eco-friendly way to get ants out of your house, but not the way you might think. Instead of ingesting it, ants run from it.
Ants have an acute sense of smell and walk in a line following the scent left by the leader. Pepper disrupts the ants' foraging patterns and forces them to find a new home.
Identify the areas of your home where you've seen the ants, and liberally sprinkle pepper to form a definitive barrier, using enough to ensure the scent is offensive.
Alternatively, add black or cayenne pepper to water in a spray bottle, shake it well, and spritz the mixture directly on the ants or along detected entry points.
