How To Use Plywood To Turn Your Ikea Cabinet Into A 3D Masterpiece
By JACQUELINE DELIBES
If you have Ikea cabinets that need a new look, get out your sketchpad, craft thin plywood design elements, glue them to the cabinet doors, and paint the whole unit.
Since Ivar cabinets are solid pine, they are perfect for this DIY. All you need is thin plywood, wood glue, primer, paint, and a paintbrush.
Once you have a design sketched, use a pencil and ruler or compass to draw the shapes onto the plywood and cut them out with precision. Remove the doors and lay them down face up.
Glue the pieces to the doors and let the glue dry for 30 to 45 minutes. Prime the doors, paint them once the primer dries, paint the rest of the cabinet, and reattach the doors.
