Hummingbirds Absolutely Love This Vibrant Flowering Plant
By RACHAEL GREEN
One of the best ways to attract hummingbirds to your garden is by growing nectar-rich plants. Although they will drink from many flowers, Turk’s cap is one of their favorites.
Hummingbirds prefer red, orange, or yellow flowers with long, tubular shapes. As such, Turk’s cap’s red, tube-like blooms and long stamens are perfect for the colorful birds.
It blooms continuously from May through November to keep the birds satisfied even after other flowers have begun to die back. Plus, it will bring a pop of color to any garden.
Plant multiple groupings around your yard to give the territorial critters space to spread out and enjoy the blooms. Do not use any pesticides, as hummingbirds will eat most pests.
Turk’s cap thrives in moist, well-draining soil and partial shade, but it will adapt to most garden conditions. Water it between rainy periods and prune its stems when necessary.
