Hydrogen Peroxide Is The Key To Grime-Free Grill Grates
By LEE MCCALLA
Keeping your grill grime-free is essential for it to last longer and cook food safely, so when grease and oil accumulate, get your grates gleaming again with hydrogen peroxide.
Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful cleaner that can remove the crusty buildup that gets embedded in the grates. It’s nonflammable but corrosive, so rinse it off thoroughly after use.
To clean your grates, you'll need a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a large plastic or rubber container. Remove the grates from your grill and place them inside your container.
Pour the hydrogen peroxide liberally over the grates. For a deeper clean, use one part hydrogen peroxide mixed with one part dish soap and two parts baking soda instead.
Leave your grates to soak overnight, then rinse them off with water, and remove any remaining residue with a sponge or grill brush. Your grill grates will now look as good as new.
