If You Live In A Hot Climate, These Grasses Are Perfect For Your Lawn
By KATIE FRANCIS
Growing and maintaining a gorgeous green lawn can be a daunting task for those living in hot climate areas, but these five most popular grass types can beat the heat.
Bahia, zoysia, Bermuda, St. Augustine, and centipede grass are all aesthetically pleasing and are known to flourish even in the face of droughts and scorching temperatures.
All five of these grasses grow in thickly when healthy, which is a key component to keeping the soil shaded, and thus, retaining moisture.
Bahia, zoysia, Bermuda, and St. Augustine grass in particular have naturally deep root systems that give them access to moisture deep within the ground.
This allows them to tolerate long droughts, but centipede grass is less tolerant due to its shallow root system, which forces it to rely on surface-level moisture.
