Is It Safe To Put Drano In A Garbage Disposal?
By CHELSEA GREENWOOD
Whether you’re a homeowner or a renter, you’ve most likely asked yourself if it’s worth it to call a professional to fix a variety of issues in your home. For example, a clogged garbage disposal can render your sink useless, so here’s whether you should call a plumber or simply use a jug of Drano.
Before you grab some Drano, see if the sink will drain on its own, and try running the garbage disposal a couple more times. If you hear a weird, banging sound, turn it off immediately and call a plumber as a fork or other hard object can be stuck inside.
Drano has several formulas for different issues and types of drains, so these products are safe to use in garbage disposals: Drano Max Gel Clog Remover, Drano Dual-Force Foamer Clog Remover, Drano Max Build-Up Remover, and Drano Liquid Drain Cleaner. Drano also warns there are some that can damage your plumbing, like the Drano Professional Strength Crystals Clog Remover.
