Is Shaving Cream Really The Key To Squeak-Free Door Hinges?
By JACQUELINE DELIBES
A squeaky door hinge
can sometimes become intolerable and wake up light sleepers. However, one bathroom necessity takes care of it beautifully: a can of regular old shaving cream.
You need three things for this to work: squeaky hinges, a bottle of shaving cream, and a small towel. Spray a line of shaving cream into each hinge on either side.
Wave the door back and forth several times to work the cream inside the hinges. Let it sit for 30 seconds, then remove the excess shaving cream with a towel.
Two key ingredients in most shaving creams are glycerin, a lubricant, and coconut fatty acids, which are used in the making of lubricants, so it easily fixes up squeaky hinges.
