TikToker @home_reimagined shared a three-step guide to dealing with the clutter that inevitably accumulates despite your best efforts, but one expert says it’s not very practical.
The first step @home_reimagined recommended involves leaving a box in a common area, gradually adding unwanted household items to it, then donating the box when it’s filled.
For step two, leave a bag in your closet, fill it with unwanted clothes, then donate it. Step three entails taking 20 minutes at the end of each day to tidy up and replace items.
However, in an exclusive House Digest interview, Glimmer Cleaning Co. owner Jon Cronin said, “[M]anaging clutter with boxes or bags [...] could end up feeling like clutter itself.”
Instead, Cronin suggests, “Every season, take dedicated time to sift through your stuff. [...] It's all about mindful decluttering without keeping bins around indefinitely.”
“As for the nightly ‘reset,’ committing to 20 minutes might not fit every home,” he said. “Try a ‘continual clean-up’ vibe [...] Or assign zones for each person to maintain daily.”
