Jenny And Dave Marrs Can't Stand This Outdated Ceiling Feature
By DARBY WAGLER
When renovating a home, Jenny and Dave Marrs of "Fixer to Fabulous" reveal that an intricate tray ceiling tends to be an architectural feature they cannot stand.
Even though tray ceilings can make a ceiling look taller and give it an interesting appearance, they tend to look outdated when given curved, traditional-looking details.
In order to make a tray ceiling with weird arches feel more modern, the designer duo form it into a square and paint it white to help the room feel bigger.
Jenny also explains on the couple’s blog that "By squaring off the recessed ceiling, we were able to instantly modernize the room."
Another approach they like for modernizing tray ceilings is to get rid of the feature altogether by covering it up, which in turn lowers the ceiling.
