Keep Birds From Flying Into Your Windows With These Tips
By ROCHELLE HEATH-HARRIS
Since the sky and the outdoor scenes are often reflected in the window glass, the birds take the window to be an extension of the sky and tend to fly into it.
It's difficult for birds to see pristine windows as a solid barrier, therefore make them visible with indicators like decals on the glass or barriers in front of the windows.
Exterior shutters or sun shades will reduce the transparent appearance and reflection, whereas bug screens or mosquito netting can at least reduce fatalities from collisions.
Adding decals to decorate the edges of windows or hanging wind chimes in front of windows to provide the birds a visual cue of depth will also help them detect the windows.
If you have bird feeders and baths, move them to about three feet from the windows. This will prevent the birds from flying into the window as they use the facilities.
Additionally, try making changes inside the home, like keeping curtains, shades, or blinds partially closed during the day and turning on lights at night.
