Keep Chipmunks Out Of Your Garden With This Handy Kitchen Spice
By NANCY CHANDLER
Though they’re cute, chipmunks dig tunnels that can destroy your garden and often eat crops, like tomatoes. Luckily, you can easily deter chipmunks from your yard with cinnamon.
Cinnamon works as a deterrent because chipmunks are very sensitive to smells. Its strong odor is too spicy for their sensitive noses and quickly overwhelms them.
Sprinkle cinnamon on the ground throughout the garden, or pour a few drops of cinnamon essential oil into a spray bottle filled with water for a truly potent deterrent.
The spice will not harm your plants, and a sprinkle of cinnamon may even make your garden thrive by serving as a fungicide and a stimulant for soil nutrition.
Once chipmunks have moved into your yard, it can be difficult to get rid of them, so use cinnamon as a deterrent to preemptively stop an infestation.
