Keep Spiders Out Of Your Home With These Essential Fruits
By ROBYN HUNT
By using scents that spiders can’t stand, like citrus peels, vinegar, or other herbs and spices, you can effectively deter them and discourage them from entering your home.
Make your repellent by slicing an orange, grapefruit, lime, or lemon peel into small chunks and placing them in a small pot. Pour a cup of boiling water over half the chunks.
Let the peels soak overnight and strain the liquid the next day. Add a quarter-cup of witch hazel to the citrus-infused water and transfer the mixture to a spray bottle.
Shake your repellent thoroughly to mix, then apply it to areas in your home where spiders typically hide. Combining water with the juice from half a lemon will work the same way.
Alternatively, you can dry your citrus peels out in the sun and grind them into a powder. Sprinkle the citrus powder in the spider-prone areas of your home at least once a week.
Since any citrus peel can work, try experimenting with grapefruit, lime, lemon, and/or orange peels as individuals or in a combination for a more fragrant (and potent) effect.
