Keep Squirrels Out Of Your Bird Feeders With One Simple Tip
By ETHAN HARRISON SMITH
Although adorable, squirrels can cause lots of trouble in a yard. To stop them from visiting your bird feeder and chasing away songbirds, try setting up a squirrel feeding station.
Giving squirrels their own, easily accessible food can distract them from taking the bird feed. Place items like peanuts, apples, and popcorn far away from your bird feeder.
Use a bird-proof squirrel feeder or a simple hopper bird feeder to provide easy access to the squirrel food. Since squirrels eat a lot, make sure to refill the feeder often.
On the downside, this can attract more squirrels or other animals like raccoons and deer. Feeding squirrels is also illegal in some places, so be sure to check your local laws.
