Keep Your Air Conditioner In Tip-Top Shape With This Cleaning Hack
By KIM W.S.
Cleaning your air conditioner is essential maintenance that must be done regularly for the unit to function efficiently. Use hydrogen peroxide to sanitize it and curtail mold.
To keep your AC in top shape, clean the filter at least every two months and deep clean the interior before and after the warmest season. Turn it off and unplug it before cleaning.
If the interior is damp, run the AC on fan mode for 30-40 minutes to dry it out. Use a vacuum to remove larger debris, an air blower for dust, and a brush for the coils and fins.
Scrub the filter with dish soap, rinse with cool water, and let it air dry before replacing it. Wipe the drip tray clean with a damp cloth, then rinse it with soap and hot water.
Finally, to kill and prevent mold, spray all components with hydrogen peroxide, including the coils, fins, vents, and panels. Let all components dry before running the unit again.
