Keep Your Garbage Disposal Smelling Fresh With These DIY Bombs
BY EZEKIEL MAINA
All you need to deal with a smelly garbage disposal unit is baking soda, citric acid, essential oil, silicone ice cube trays, a spray bottle, and an airtight storage container.
Mix a ½ cup of baking soda and a ½ cup of citric acid in a bowl. Stir the mixture until it reaches a seamless consistency, add 20 drops of your chosen scent, then stir again.
Next, spritz water into the mixture using a spray bottle while stirring continuously. Aim for a sandy, castle-making consistency — not too dry to fall apart and not too wet.
Then, spoon the mixture into your silicone ice tray molds, press down firmly, and leave to set overnight. Remove from the ice tray and store in a cool, secure, airtight container.
Every few days or whenever you notice an odor from your garbage disposal, simply drop in a couple of the bombs followed by a splash of water, wait a minute, and then switch it on.
Instead of an ice tray, you can mold the mixture into balls with your hands. If you have pets, use 20 drops of freshly squeezed orange or lemon juice instead of essential oils.
