Martha Stewart has shared an easy yet effective trick on TikTok for disposing of cooking oil, steering clear of the common but harmful practice of pouring it down the kitchen sink.
"When you have a pan full of oil or melted butter, and you don't know what to do with it, and it's hot, just place some paper toweling. Let it soak up all that oil," she advises.
This technique not only cools the pan, making it safe to wash, but also prevents grease from entering the drainage system, where it could solidify and cause blockages.
As the renowned domestic guru explains, "No grease is going to go down the drain, and all the
grease is absorbed by the paper towel. You can then simply discard it."
