Keep Your Stovetop Clean With This Handy Laundry Staple
By MARCO ROSSI
Stoves with caked-on grease and stubborn food splatters require some muscle to clean. Luckily, borax is a natural ingredient that can grant you the necessary scrubbing power.
This laundry staple is a salt mined from the earth, made of boron, oxygen, and sodium. Borax’s gritty texture is what makes it ideal for cleaning.
Simply sprinkle the white powder across the surface of your stovetop, before using a damp sponge, rough side down, to scrub the stains away.
If you only have a few splatters, a small sprinkling should be enough to dislodge the debris, but for larger messes, it’s best to add at least 1 cup of borax for easier cleaning.
For tougher stains, sprinkle borax on the surface, mist the area with warm water from a spray bottle to create a paste, and let it sit for about 15 minutes before wiping it away.
