Light Up Your Lawn With This Gorgeous Dollar Tree DIY
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
Illuminating your outdoor space doesn’t have to cost a lot with Dollar Tree. In this DIY, you’ll make a cement sphere that’s set over a solar light to create a lighting feature.
You can get solar yard light stakes, beach balls, and nautical rope at Dollar Tree, and cement at your local hardware store. Start by blowing up the beach ball until it’s firm.
Lay out a tarp to place your ornament on while it dries. Then, mix the cement, wet the rope, and dip it into the cement, coating it fully and squeezing it to saturate
the fibers.
Pull the rope out and wring it out slightly to remove excess cement. Now, wrap it around the beach ball in a criss-cross pattern, and secure the ends under another piece of rope.
Leave your ornament to dry, but mist the concrete with water as its curing to strengthen it. Then, remove the beach ball from the center once the cement has completely hardened.
You can now paint your sphere or place it as is over a light stake in your garden. Alternatively, place it on a table or on your patio, and cover it with outdoor string lights.
