Make Basic Wire Shelves Look Expensive With This DIY Makeover
By RON BAKER
Concealing your wire builder-grade shelving is the easiest way to elevate them. Instagrammer @therenegadehome shared how to DIY shelf covers that look high-end but cost under $100.
You’ll need cabinet-grade plywood and solid pine board (measure your shelving to get the dimensions needed), sandpaper, wood glue, brad nails, stain, and
polyurethane sealer.
Cut the plywood to your shelves’ width and depth and the pine board to the shelves’ width. You may need to cut the wood slightly shorter to accommodate the shelving supports.
Attach the pine front edge with wood glue and a brad nailer, then sand, stain, and seal your shelf covers. Simply slide them over your wire shelves, and place your items onto them.
