Make Your Small Living Room Look Bigger With HGTV's Jen Todryk's Tips
By V BAWA
How you furnish your
small living room plays a significant role in making it seem bigger. HGTV’s Jenn Todryk explains how to
use furniture to give the impression of spaciousness.
In an episode of HGTV's
"No Demo Reno," Todryk explained that having only one piece of furniture "makes the space look smaller than when you put a lotta stuff in."
While a minimalist approach is often considered ideal for furnishing a small room, Todryk's advice is to fill up the room, as it’ll feel larger if it seems like a lot can fit in.
In the show, the room
only had a foosball table, making it feel like there was no space for anything else. Todryk added a sofa, a coffee table, and two seats with side tables.
This showed the room could hold several furniture pieces comfortably. It’s essential to get furniture that fits your living room perfectly, with some space left around each piece.
Additionally, instead of using many small pieces, use one or two big anchor pieces to create the illusion of space, and also arrange the sofa and chairs so they face each other.
