By SANDY BAKER
Wisconsin's natural beauty, competitive housing market, and low cost of living has made it a desirable place to live, and the best city to live in the Badger State is Madison.
Located west of Milwaukee, Madison, the state's capital, is a city with over 269,000 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median household income is $67,565.
The median value of a home here is $262,400 and the median gross rent is $1,147. The cost of living, which is 4% higher than the national average, has dropped in the last year.
As for quality of life, the city has many neighborhoods, 47 state parks, and over 15,000 lakes. It's noted for its schools, after-school programs, park events, and tech industry.
U.S. News & World Report ranked Madison 17th overall as one of the best places to live and 54th for the best place to retire. It's ranked sixth nationwide for its quality of life.
