Peppermint essential oil serves as an effective natural repellent against ants, capable of stopping them in their tracks and keeping them at bay for up to a week.
To create the ant repellent, fill a spray bottle three-quarters of the way with water and add 12 drops of peppermint essential oil. Then, shake the bottle well.
You can spray this mixture around areas where ants are frequently seen, such as window and door frames, cracks, outdoor patios and decks, and even countertops where food is kept.
However, peppermint oil is toxic to pets, posing risks ranging from digestive issues to fatality, so households with them should seek alternative ant-repelling methods.
