Pinterest Has A Clever Way To Store Tools In Your Garage
By KYLE SCHURMAN
As Craftsy Hacks on Pinterest describes, use PVC pipes to organize and store tools in your garage. Mount sections of PVC pipes to a board, then slide in the handles of your tools.
First, identify the tools you're hanging, then match their handles' diameter with the pipes' diameter, which may range from ½ inch to 12 inches. Ensure they don't fit too tightly.
Cut the pipe using a Sawzall blade, a hacksaw, or a power miter saw to a length where about two-thirds of the tool will be inside the cylinder. Sand them with 120-grit sandpaper.
Mount a segment of 2x4 horizontally on the wall, or if you have drywall, mount the wood to the wall studs using a stud finder. You can mount as many 2x4s as you want.
Drill holes through the pipe and attach it to the 2x4 using long screws. Place the holes somewhere between the midway and quarter points from the pipe's bottom.
Now, store your tools with their top resting against the screws and about one-third of them extending from the pipes’ top so that you can easily identify them at a glance.
