Protect Your Garden From Groundhogs With This Common Condiment
By KATIE FRANCIS
Although groundhogs are attracted to the smell of gardens, they are very sensitive to extreme scents, particularly spices, making hot sauces like Tabasco a perfect deterrent.
Add half a bottle of Tabasco sauce with water and a tablespoon of dish soap in a watering can. Consider using Dawn or another biodegradable dish soap
to keep it nature-friendly.
Swirl the can to mix, then carefully apply it to your plants’ leaves without pouring it on the fruits or vegetables, reapplying as needed, especially after heavy rain.
While Tabasco sauce works, other brands like Frank's RedHot or Huy Fong Sriracha are also effective. The hotter the sauce, the stronger the spicey repellent.
