Reach For This Bathroom Essential For A Sparkling Clean Sink
By KATE NICHOLSON
Instead of using harsh chemicals to scour your bathroom, toothpaste will clean your ceramic sink and other hard, shiny surfaces just as well as it cleans your enamel-based teeth.
This minty mush is known for its built-in scrubbing and scum-fighting properties, and it may even deal with pesky hard water stains. Plain white toothpaste is best for this task.
Toothpaste might also help keep your bathroom germ-free, as it contains antibacterial additives, like triclosan or zinc chloride, found in regular bathroom cleaning products.
You need a slightly more abrasive toothpaste like Crest Cavity Protection with baking soda (about $2 at Walmart), Tom's of Maine, Dentisse, or Colgate Sensitive Max.
First, wet the sink and then spread up to three dollops of toothpaste around the surface using a sponge, rag, or soft-bristled toothbrush. Rub it into the surface and rinse well.
Always use a soft cloth to avoid scratches. This hack works best on light-colored glazed ceramic, enamel, or glass sinks, but it may stain acrylic basins or ones with dark tones.
