Remove Grime From Your Range Hood Filter With
A Vinegar Solution
By ETHAN HARRISON SMITH
A range hood is designed to capture cooking grease, which results in grime buildup over time. Luckily, the key to cleaning it is already in your pantry: vinegar and baking soda.
First, remove the filter from the range hood. There is usually a latch on the side to pop or slide it out, but if you get stuck, you should refer to the manual for extra guidance.
Then, boil water in a large pot or pan before adding 3 tablespoons of vinegar. Mix in a ¼ cup of baking soda, adjusting the ratios as needed depending on how grimy your filter is.
Submerge the filter in the mixture and let it boil for at least 10 minutes before thoroughly rinsing it with hot water. Dry it off, then pop the filter back into your range hood.
