Remove Mold From Your Washing Machine's Door With This
Handy Staple
By MEREDITH EASTWOOD
The dark, moist environment created by the rubber gasket of the washing machine door provides an ideal habitat for mold to flourish and demands a tailored approach to cleaning.
Bleach possesses remarkable mold-fighting properties. Its active ingredient, sodium hypochlorite, is a potent disinfectant that kills existing mold and prevents regrowth.
To begin, dilute the bleach in the ratio of 1 part bleach to 4 parts water. Put it in a spray bottle and spray the solution onto the door, including all of its nooks and crannies.
Apply the bleach solution also to the seal and gasket, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe it away with a cloth. For persistent mold, run a bleach cycle in the machine.
Ventilate the area well before cleaning to minimize the impact of bleach fumes, and understand the intricacies of the door’s design to target mold-hiding spots effectively.
