Removing Bed Bug Stains From Your Mattress Is Easier Than You'd Think
By ROBYN HUNT
While an infestation isn’t always easy to tackle — once you've removed all bugs from your bed — cleaning those red or rust-colored bed bug stains on your mattress is a cakewalk.
Enzyme-based cleaners like Shout or Puracy can efficiently do the job. These topicals harness the power of good bacteria, which quickly break down stubborn stains.
Generally, you should allow these spray and wash products to sit on the stain for about 10 to 30 minutes, but each brand has different instructions, so be sure to read them first.
You can also spread a thick paste of equal parts of baking soda and water over the stain using a toothbrush, allow it to sit until it dries out, and then vacuum the remains.
In case of tough stains, make a spray-on mixture of hydrogen peroxide, dish soap, baking soda, and water. Allow it to set for around 10 minutes, and blot it away with a soft cloth.
