Removing Silicone Caulk Is Easy With This Household Staple

Silicone caulk seals gaps effectively, but removing it can be tough. Luckily, a household staple like vinegar with its acetic acid content softens caulk for easier removal.
Before using vinegar, make sure it’s safe to use on the surface you're working on — for example, ceramic tiles and vinegar don't mix. You might need to rely on other alternatives.
Heat the caulk with a hairdryer, then apply vinegar directly or via a soaked towel, ensuring it saturates the caulk. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to soften the caulk thoroughly.
Then, cut the caulk close to the substrate with a knife. Use pliers to lift and peel the caulk off entirely, ensuring no residue remains so the new caulk will properly adhere.
