Say Goodbye To Mosquitos With These Handy Household Staples
By CLARA AWUSE
Coffee Grounds
As proven in a study by the National Library of Medicine, coffee grounds repel female mosquitos from laying eggs and inhibit hatching larvae.
Spread the grounds in areas where you spend the most time outdoors, place containers of dry grounds around the perimeter, or sprinkle them in a fire pit or outdoor fireplace.
Grapefruit
The scent of grapefruit is a natural repellent for mosquitoes. Rub the peel on your skin or grapefruit essential oil that has been diluted with a carrier oil.
Make a homemade mosquito-repelling candle by baking the grapefruit until dry. Slice and mix the dried peels with melted wax in a fire-safe container, add a wick, and let it cool.
Rubbing Alcohol
Some claim that rubbing alcohol repels mosquitos. Mix it with equal parts of water to make a spray for exposed areas of your skin, avoiding sensitive areas.
Fans
Mosquitos find their prey using the carbon dioxide and heat their victims emit. If positioned strategically, fans disperse these gases, preventing mosquitos from finding them.

Vinegar
The strong scent of vinegar irritates mosquitos’ sensory receptors, preventing them from getting close. Mix equal parts vinegar and water and spray it on your skin.
