Chlorine Bleach
Add a cup of chlorine bleach to your laundry for a cheap, effective way to clean your clothes, but take care when using it on delicate or non-bleach-safe fabrics.
Unlike chlorine bleach, oxygen bleach (or hydrogen peroxide), doesn’t release harmful chemicals when mixed with water, making it perfect for whitening your laundry.
Simply add about a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide per load of white laundry for brighter whites without any toxic chemical reactions that can harm your health and your fabrics.
Mix a cup of vinegar with enough boiling water to cover your garments, let them soak for a few hours, then wash your laundry normally to clear the yellow stains.
Soak your clothing in a mix of ½ cup borax to 1 gallon of warm water for 30-60 minutes before washing them as usual. Since borax is toxic, it should be handled with caution.
Add ½ cup of lemon juice to your wash cycle to lift minor stains. For heavy ones, mix ½ cup with boiling water and soak your clothes overnight before washing as usual.
