Should You Run Your Dishwasher With Lemon?
By PEG ALOI
One of the simplest and best ways to keep your dishwasher clean and free from limescale and soap deposits is by using lemon or lemon juice.
Lemon juice reacts with the limescale and the chemical reaction loosens and begins to dissolve the limescale so it can be scrubbed or washed away.
Remove any seeds first, as they
may block the dishwasher's
filter or other mechanisms. Slicing the lemon thinly will ensure you don't miss any seeds.
Place the thin slice of lemon, or a tablespoon of lemon juice, in
the detergent compartment of your dishwasher, then run it on any wash cycle.
After that, gently scrub to get rid of any residue. To keep it clean, periodically put vinegar or lemon juice to the detergent compartment along with the usual detergent.
