Smart IKEA Products To Turn Unused Kitchen Space Into Clever Storage
By MICHELLE ROBERTS-GARCIA
If you want to fill several feet of dead kitchen space, try using a set of two curtain brackets and a rod, like the IKEA Nereby or the IKEA Bekräfta, to turn it into storage space.
Using the $6 Nereby or the $24.99 Bekräfta, you can build a place to hang baskets for storing food, cooking items, or other products that are taking up space in your cooking area.
First, install your brackets with a drill. Measure the distance between the brackets for your rod (which should be 23 ½ inches in the Nereby's case) and line it all up accordingly.
The Bekräfta comes with an extendable rod, so it’ll give you a bit more length to play around with. Once you've secured the setup in place, add some removable S-hooks to the rod.
Lastly, use the hooks to hang baskets, like the $20 woven Tolkning ones from IKEA, by their handles so that their openings are accessible and utilize them as storage space.
