Squirrel-Proof Your Bird Feeder With An Item From Your Medicine Drawer

If you want to deter squirrels from invading your bird feeders, you can use Vicks VapoRub to repel them, as these critters are known to dislike its scent.
Apply a thin layer of the ointment along potential access routes to the bird feeder, such as on the poles or around the chains from which the feeder hangs.
This will create an invisible barrier that squirrels are likely to avoid. It’s crucial to reapply the ointment occasionally, especially after rainfall, for continued protection.
Since VapoRub can be dangerous if ingested, it’s best to apply only a thin layer, well away from the feeder, such as lower down on the pole, for the safety of squirrels and birds.
