Stop Weeds In Your Garden With These Top Tips
By DANIEL FEININGER
Weed Often
If weeds are allowed to grow unchecked, they can quickly become very large and overrun healthy grass growth. In the worst case, you may need to resod the entire yard.
After removing all existing weeds, Pest Control Idaho recommends weeding once per week to tackle any growth you might have missed and remove any that grew since your last session.
Pull From The Root
Weeds are structured with a hollowed out central trunk that allows them to grow very quickly. It also causes most weeds to break easily when pulled from the top.
To effectively stop the weed from returning, it has to be pulled from below the soil level. Use a garden fork or spade to create space to rip it out or extricate the root ball.
Use Quality Gloves
Many weeds have spiny structure, burrs, or thorns. While designed to deter predators, these defense mechanisms make weeding bare-handed an unpleasant experience.
As such, it's best to wear gloves and a long-sleeved shirt while weeding to protect your hands and make it easier to dig into the soil to thoroughly remove them from the root.
