Take Garage Storage To A New Level With These DIY Solutions
By JASMINE HARDING
Tool Rack
Create a customizable storage rack to hold tools like brooms, rakes, or shovels. First, determine how you want to lay out your tools, then cut a 2-by-4 plank for the base.
Next, cut 10-inch-long pieces for the racks on which you’ll hang your tools by their head or handle, nail these onto your base plank, and mount the rack onto your garage wall.
Pegboard Cabinet
Instead of a pegboard wall, get a suitable shelving unit like the IKEA Alex, turn it on its side, and install pegboards on sliding trays that slot into the shelves.
Bike Rack
Skip buying an expensive bike rack. Simply cut some PVC pipes to size and connect them with tees and elbows to construct your own PVC rack to hold your bike upright.
Ball Storage
Build a rectangular wooden frame with a backing section to hold bungee hooks, then run a bungee cord around it to hold the balls in and make it easy to get them out.
Shoe Organizer
Mount a shoe organizer on an empty wall, or get an over-the-door one. The pouches are perfect for storing workshop tools or garage items like cans of spray paint.
