The Beneficial Ground Cover That Lets You Enjoy Color Year Round
By KALEIGH BRILLON
Sedum, also known as stonecrop, is a colorful and eco-friendly ground cover that serves as an excellent alternative to traditional grass lawns, especially in hot, arid regions.
These succulents thrive in a variety of harsh conditions, including poor, rocky, or sandy soils. Their ability to retain water in the leaves reduces the need for frequent watering.
Thriving with minimal fertilizer and abundant sunshine, sedum plants also attract lots of pollinators, making them beneficial companions for flower and vegetable gardens.
With over 300 varieties available in a wide range of colors and sizes, there is a sedum to match the unique aesthetic and climate requirements of any landscape.
However, it's important to note that sedum lawns are not suitable for areas prone to heavy foot traffic or excessive shade and moisture, limiting their usefulness in such settings.
