The Benefits Of Planting This Shade-Loving Ground Cover In Your Yard
By LAUREN KRYSTAF
Finding beautiful, flowering, shade-loving, and deer-resistant ground cover is a tall order — but not an impossible one. Gorgeous bunchberries fit all of the above criteria.
This Dogwood relative provides lovely white flowers and edible red berries that will have pollinators flocking to your yard without encouraging the presence of deer or rabbits.
Bunchberries also grow best in partial shade, like the dappled sunlight found under trees, making them a great companion plant. They thrive in moist soil with a pH of less than 6.
These gorgeous plants are also easily grown from seeds or cuttings. They seldom will grow over a foot tall and will slowly creep across your yard to create beautiful ground cover.
