The Best Time To Clean Your Silicone Baking Mat (And Why It Matters)
By WILL FORD
The best time to wash your silicone baking mat is right after it comes out of the oven. Letting it cool allows food residues and oils to harden, making cleaning more difficult.
Wear heat-resistant gloves and carefully transfer the hot mat from the oven to the sink. Then, wash it with mild dish soap and a soft sponge to avoid damaging
the silicone.
Rinse with cool water, dry with a gentle cloth, and store it for future use. If the mat has cooled, you can simply reheat it in the oven to loosen the residues
before cleaning.
For stubborn stains, soak the mat in warm, soapy water for about 30 minutes, then scrub it with a sponge. To ensure its longevity, avoid cleaning the mat in a dishwasher.
