The Classic Kitchen Color HGTV's Hilary Farr Says Is Timeless

When renovating your kitchen, it can be hard to choose the right paint color. Hilary Farr, known for HGTV’s “Love It or List It,” often opts for blue in her kitchen designs.
“I adore blue in a kitchen. It’s very chic,” Farr said during an episode of her newest show, “Tough Love with Hilary Farr.” Farr notes that the calming color won’t go out of style.
While she used an ocean blue during Season 2, Episode 8 of “Tough Love,” she recommends using indigo, telling “The Today Show” that “it’s timeless” and matches with everything.
A deep blue is another shade that can add some life to a home without looking dated years later. It can add contrast to a home and offer a moody vibe.
Conversely, a light blue tone can create a beachy, airy feeling and works great when used on a wall. Pair it with cabinets painted in a navy blue shade.
Blue works with all different colors, materials, and finishes and can be used for cabinets, walls, or appliances. “Everything works with this color,” Farr said on “The Today Show.”
To make the color stand out, try blue cabinets with gold hardware for a classy vibe. For smaller kitchens, choose a blue with a high gloss to brighten the space.
