The Cleaning Routine That Brings Cast Iron Stove Grates Back To Life
By ALEXANDRA RODRIGUEZ
Using dish soap, a non-metal bristled brush, and hot water is a great way to clean your coated cast iron grates without damaging or scratching their surface.
Simply place your coated iron grates in a sink or tub and fill it with hot water until it covers them. Then, add dish soap to the water and mix it until it’s well combined.
Let the grates soak for 15 to 20 minutes so the dish soap can effectively lift stains, grime, and grease. Next, scrub the grates with your brush to remove any remaining stains.
Lastly, rinse your grates with warm water, dry them, and replace them on the stovetop. Use this cleaning routine once a week to keep your grates up-to-date.
Alternatively, you can combine baking soda with water to create a paste and spread it on your grates with a brush. Let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing with hot water.
