The Cleaning Solution That'll Help Remove Yellow Pillow Stains
By RITA KUEBER
Yellow pillows don't just have an ick factor. They also harbor dust, old skin cells, bacteria, and allergens that should be removed to prevent illness and other health issues.
Luckily, an enzyme cleaner, like Zout or Biokleen, can resuscitate yellow-stained pillows by breaking down the organic compounds causing stains and odors. Plus, it’s eco-friendly.
Unlike bleach and detergents that cause allergic reactions, enzyme cleaners are often dye- and fragrance-free, reducing the risk of skin irritations from bedding or clothing.
Experts recommend washing pillows twice a year — or more if you eat in bed or have pets. Different pillow types require specific care, so check the manufacturer's instructions.
